2023 is finally here, which means we have brand new otome games coming! Let’s briefly go through all Switch games that have been scheduled for release this year. In this article, I will only focus on unlocalised (Japanese only) titles. Multi-language titles will be excluded as you’ll find them in my 2023 English otome games archive.

The premise. Drama, fantasy, adventure and battles. After losing her hometown and family, Ran obtains the ‘cursed magic sword’. Due to the immense power of the sword, she is sent to a military school known as ‘Nirvana’ to learn to wield it. The game follows her story to find her place in the world that she thought she had once lost.

Bustafellows Season 2 is the sequel to the original game, and follows Teuta’s adventure with Limbo the lawless lawyer, Mozu the coroner, Shu the hitman, Helvetica the surgeon and Crow the hacker to solve crimes in New Sieg!

Princess Arthur

Can Aru survive the tribulations that will befall her?

The premise. Slice-of-life, drama and religious themes. Minagawa Airi is an apprentice nurse who strives to equally care for all beings. One day, love starts to bloom in her heart. She needs to choose whether to follow the way of nunnery – that no one is more special than any others, or to love as she sees fit.

Hakuouki SSL ~Sweet School Life~

The premise. Shinsengumi – but in school?! Spring, a season of blessing for new encounters. Yukimura Chizuru knocks on the gates of a private academy, which has since been an all boys school. However, as of this year, Hakuou Academy opens its gates to co-education and Chizuru is the only female student enrolled. Thus, begins her first year.
This story is a spin-off work of Hakuouki ~Shinsengumi Kitan~ and a Switch port.

The premise. Horror otome game. “This town is well known for people getting spirited away – are you going to be alright?”. Isshiki Misa, who does not believe in such things, was startled at her friend’s words. She does have a big worry though – that is, about her future after graduation. An eerie voice then whispered in her ears, “Let us find your path. I will be the one to lure you into the darkness…”
And that’s when her life starts to go into dismay.

There are three parts to this FD: 1) After Story – Tifalia’s story after completing her journey with “CIRCUS” with her chosen beloved. 2) If Story – after Tifalia’s journey with “CIRCUS”, she begins a “new life” as a secretary to Jinnia. 3) Interlude – scenes that happened between the stories, shown from various perspectives.

This fandisc gives gamers the epilogue, the final happy ending to Wand of Fortune 2 as well as the episodes that you have yet to experience.

Getsuai no Kusari ~Sakuran Paranoia~

The premise. Mature x tragic otome game. One year ago disaster fell upon a once flourishing town, and the villagers fell into despair. Also involved is a soldier dispatched from the mainland, Inoguchi Wataru and a mysterious traveler, Haruna Nozomu. The villagers are pulled into these men’s actions, and the protagonist Fuyuura Megumi is not an exception. This is a story of people desperately fighting to survive in harsh times.
Cupid Parasite -Sweet and Spicy Darling-

The fulfillment of love is not the end; it’s the start of a new life. But what awaits the two who become lovers or spouses is an even more unpredictable and tremendous upheaval!

Nejimaki Kiriko

The premise. Isekai, adventure and slice of life. Kiriko falls in love with Futahishi Kiseki, a boy who works at the large mansion she lives in. They share a wonderful time, but somehow their encounter triggers the world’s end. Suddenly, Kiriko finds herself back in time, when she first visited the mansion. With the ability to rewind time on her side, can Kiseki save both the world and her love?
Note: the developers described this game as joseimuke, but there are strong otome-related elements including romance so I will leave it in this list.

Princess Arthur! That was one of my favorite games I played on my phone. I was so sad when they took it away.
