Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side (TMGS) 1st Love, 2nd Season, and 3rd Story are set to hit the Nintendo Switch on February 14, 2024!
This will be a download-only release, and reservations begin today, on December 25, 2023.
Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side is an otome game series released by Konami. The gameplay focuses on scheduling, dating, and stat-building. The parameters are built up through different activities including academic ability, art, popularity, sport, attentiveness and beauty.
There are also female characters who can become the player’s friends, study together, go out for coffee, and become love rivals.
Some versions also include unique feature, such as the 3P mode, where the protagonist can date two boys simultaneously, and Live2D animation.
Here’s a brief history of the series, adapted from the Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side Wiki.
The first game was released for the PlayStation in 2002 and re-released with enhancements for the Nintendo DS as Tokimemo GS: 1st Love in 2007.
TMGS: 2nd Season came out in 2008 for the Nintendo DS, featuring extra content such as two additional love interests (compared to the 2nd Kiss version).
TMGS: 3rd Story is the 2010 sequel to TMGS: 2nd Kiss. An enhanced port to the PlayStation Portable with additional content was released in 2012.
TMGS: 4th Heart is the 4th instalment in the Girl’s Side series and was released for the Nintendo Switch on October 28, 2021.

Q1: Is there anything different from the DS version?
The basic game system and story have been directly ported from the DS version. However, when playing in TV mode, you cannot touch the screen directly; it is limited to controller input.
Q2: Are there best friend events or love triangles like in 3rd Story?
Yes, those features are included, following the specifications of the DS version.
Q3: Are there new characters or systems?
Since it’s primarily a port of the DS version, there are no additional elements or characters.
Q4: What about Hasumi-kun from the PSP version of 3rd Story…?
Hasumi Tatsuya-kun…. will be there! Rest assured.
Q5: Can you stream gameplay videos like in 4th Heart?
Yes, you can. Video uploads for TMGS 1st Love for Nintendo Switch, TMGS 2nd Season for Nintendo Switch, and TMGS 3rd Story for Nintendo Switch will be possible starting March 14th, one month after the game’s release. Detailed guidelines will be available on the official website after the conclusion of this program.
Komatsubara Reiko is the character designer for the series. Uchida Akari, originally the producer, left Konami and was not involved in the production of TMGS: 4th Heart.
With 4th Heart already available on Switch, this means the entire series will soon be available to play on a modern console!

SAME OMGG I also collect physically so it’s pretty disappointing that they don’t also have a physical version! Wait I actually don’t quite understand the reasoning for not having physical release – can you share why that might be?
Ah its just my theory but I guess it because it’d probably cost a fair amount to produce the physical copies? Whereas with the digital they can just make it compatible with switch software and not much else goes into it. Just from a business perspective LOL
